On April 24th, I went to TWIns to learn about the fusion of different fields and life lessons.I realized that it is important to have a broad amount of knowledge. Also, learning about new technology made me feel that science is enjoyable. I learned how to combine different fields and take challenges. To do this, we need to know other fields, communicate with others, and not give up. I learned that failure helps us grow, and I can use this in my research.
（日本語訳）4月24日に、私は異分野融合と人生の教訓を学ぶために早稲田大学先端生命医科学センター（TWIns）に行きました。幅広い知識を持つことが大切だと感じました。また、最先端技術に触れて、科学の凄さに心動かされました。 その講義で、異分野融合の方法と挑戦について学びました。異分野融合をするには、相手の分野の知識を持ち、コミュニケーションすることと挑戦をして失敗をしても、あきらめないことが大切です。失敗は成長の機会だと知り、今している課題研究にも応用できると感じました。
As part of the TWIns introduction, we were given an explanation of what is considered most important in mechanical engineering. “It is only through experience that you can make use of your intuition. You can’t get started without getting knowledge first,” said Mr. Umezu. The words made me realize that I needed knowledge for my research. From now on, I’m going to follow this advice. I will get a lot of knowledge necessary for my research and make it meaningful.

“Connections” is the most important thing I learned from Professor Umezu’s lecture at Waseda TWIns on April 24th. By seeing real tools and technology, I learned that finding connections can broaden my view. I was surprised that medicine and engineering work together using simulators to improve treatment and see organs. I learned that connecting different fields can create new ideas, so I want to pay attention to small questions and connect them in the future.
